Converting PSI to bars is *easy*. Both **PSI** *( Pounds per Square Inch)* and

**bars**are the most commonly used

*units of pressure*. To make the conversion insanely easy, we created an online

**PSI to bar calculator**

*(insert PSI, get bars)*and a

**0.1-1000 PSI to bar conversion chart**.

Quick Example: In the photo above, we see that we set the tire pressure to **35 PSI**. How many bars is that? Just insert 35 PSI in the calculator, and you will see that this is equal to **2.41 bars** right away.

Here is this online calculator you can use whenever you need to make this conversion:

Let’s say you want to convert 48 PSI to bars. You just input **’48’** in the PSI input field, hit *‘Calculate’*, and you get this result *(screenshot)*:

We can see right away that 48 PSI is equal to **3.31 bars**. If you need this conversion in reverse – bar to PSI – you can check this bar to PSI calculator.

Alright, let’s have a look at the math behind this conversion:

### PSI To Bar Formula

PSI and bars are both units of pressure. However, PSI is defined as a force of 1 pound exerted on an area of 1 square inch, while the bar is defined as a force of 100,000 N (Newtons) exerted on a surface area of 1 square meter. It’s hard to see how to make the conversion between these 2 pressure units from their definitions, but we can just apply this simple rule:

**1 PSI = 0.0689475729 Bar**

Namely, PSI is a much smaller unit of pressure than bars. 1 PSI is equal to about 0.07 bar. Using this conversion rule, we can write the following PSI to bar formula:

**Bar = PSI × 0.0689475729**

We see that we have to multiply the pressure expressed in PSI by a factor of 0.0689475729 to get pressure expressed in bars.

Quick Example: *How many bars are in 50 PSI?* Let’s just put 50 PSI in the equation above and calculate the resulting bars equivalent like this:

Bar (50 PSI) = *50 PSI* × 0.0689475729 = *3.45 Bars*

We see that 50 PSI is equal to 3.45 bars. Let’s have a look at the full conversion chart where we converted anywhere from 0.1 to 1000 PSI into bars:
